From When? Post Fight with Augustine and then some AU history
History: This is all Good Karma!History since this version Eugene is from the Good Karma playthrough. It also lists his Good Karma powers but I can list them below and point out which ones drain his
Video powers and which ones don't actually need it.
A lot of the ones linked in the list above are very much so ones that both Delsin and Eugene carry. But since Eugene has had his abilities for far longer than Delsin, he has a few extra tricks up his sleeve.
Post-previous visit to New Dodge AU:
First off, his first two months home were bull. Fixing Human-Conduit relations wasn't easy ad he obviously threw himself into that, but he also threw himself into finding a way back to New Dodge. This was achieved by posting on Alien Conspiracy Theory blogs and forums until he was found by Kaz, Ophelia and the others and hired as roadie. This eventually became him becoming the main source for their light shows, right own to having a name on the bill.
But it's not his name. His whole goal was to get back to New Dodge, so he went by Delsin Walker. Eventually, after quite daringly rescuing some politician higher ups kid on the planet Helfyr, he was knighted and became Sir Delsin Walker of the Haus Helfyr but to the people on the tour, he's just The Kid.
Now that he's in New Dodge, he'll be parting ways with everyone he's been traveling with and hoping to return to life in New Dodge.
A list of his conduit powers follows:
Drain Video:-- Like all Conduits, his ability needs a source. For most uses, it's not limitless. The only powers he has that don't need a source and can be used for as long as he wants are his melee attack, his flight and his shift into He Who Dwells. For his other abilities, he needs to recharge his batteries. This comes in the form of literally draining video from satellites, television screens and occasionally computer screens.
Video Torrent:--This is one of the ones that causes a drain on his 'batteries'. It's hard-light, pixelated projectiles that stream out of his hand in a continuous burst. It's not the most hard hitting, damaging power. The drain is minimal. It just takes a while to subdue enemies with it and occasionally, Eugene has to make a run for another video source. Good for small, low ranking DUP. Not at all good for the bigger guys and boss fights.
Bloodthirsty Blades:--Think of this as target-seeking missiles. Eugene marks a target, three very sharp digital swords appear and chase the target, exploding on contact. They're a heavy hitting attack and can't be used often because of the drain. Each Video Drain gives him anywhere from one to four Bloodthirsty Blade attacks.
Video Surge:--This is a travel ability. It equips Eugene with a pair of bright blue, angelic looking, digital wings that he can use to fly and glide in short spurts. It doesn't drain stored Video at all.
Shroud of Invisibility:--Exactly what it says on the tin. It renders him invisible for a grand total of ten seconds at most. There is a drain with this ability.
Digital Sword:--Melee attack. Eugene can create a digital sword to use in close combat fights.
Subdue:--When an enemy is knocked over and can't get up, Eugene can harmlessly pin them to the ground with a group of digital swords. Only Eugene can remove them. This builds up Karma, enabling him to later use a Karma Bomb.
Hellfire Swarm:--This is a Karma Bomb. It's a special circumstances sort of last resort ability. Eugene summons a mass of digital angels from his game, making them swarm his enemies and subdue them. It's not a draining ability. It's just a special circumstances one where he's built up enough Karma (or as in Boomtown, when the situation really needs it in a back to the wall no other choice sort of way since IDFK how he'd build up Good Karma points)
Eugene has also been known to turn into his gaming avatar, He Who Dwells. This is a three story tall beast of an Angel and Eugene has fun playing up the Big Damn Hero aspect of it, even going so far as to change his speech patterns.
Eugene can also drag people into the world of his favorite video game, but this isn't a pleasant experience and if Eugene takes enough damage, both Eugene and his 'guest' will be kicked out. Eugene only does this as a defensive measure/scare tactic to Delsin once.
And like all Conduits, he can heal. It's not instant. It takes a few minutes and if hit with enough damage, he can die. This also means he can still get sick, though to a lesser degree than humans.
Personality: Eugene Sims is only just coming into his confidence. He spent the better part of his life being picked on, kicked around and beat up, always the brunt of bullies jokes and abuses, so his self esteem isn't where it should be. Even though he did start feeling more sure about himself fighting alongside Delsin and Fetch, Eugene is still cautious around new people. He had a habit of retreating into the fantasy world MMORPG Heavens Hellfire, but since he and Delsin saved the Conduits being sold back to the DUP, he's starting to become very comfortable in his own skin.
He's starting to like who he is. He's a compassionate, caring, loving individual, but he can also panic and become upset and angry when things aren't going as planned. Take for example when he sent his angels to help Delsin protect the Conduits that had been captured by the DUP and the hate-group the Akurans. His angels were decimated and for a moment, he couldn't think of anything better to do than flip out and scream how this wasn't supposed to happen. He almost flaked out entirely on Delsin, only to take on his game avatar form He Who Dwells, a massive angel three stories tall capable of flight and Eugene's full range of Video abilities.
Winning this battle and being key in helping Delsin defeat Augustine once and for all really helped Eugene realize that he could very easily become someone capable of great things. Now, he won't readily flail around and show off his abilities in New Dodge. This will take time. He's very used to being hated for who he was, mislabeled a Bioterrorist and treated like shit because of it. He has to learn to trust the people in town. Eugene has a few trust issues.
He's a loyal guy to the friends he makes. As long as his friends treat him right and are willing to help him through things when he needs them, they have a friend for life. He might come off as short with people upon first meeting them, and if it's a girl he's talking to, his residual insecurities will show.
His personality changes drastically when he becomes He Who Dwells. It's something he hides behind, so he's loud and tough and tends to taunt his enemy. He's overconfident, territorial, a bit rude. But this is all just an act for him. Really, he's still Eugene. He can easily slip back to being his actual self, even when he's the hulking and menacing He Who Dwells.
His thoughts on friends were already discussed, his thoughts on family are probably not as pleasant. His own mother signed the law putting the DUP in charge of finding and rounding up conduits and in turn handed her fourteen year old son over when his abilities activated. As much as he loves his mom, this has led him to believe that forming his own family is probably wiser.
And due to his previous time in New Dodge and being the Universes Best Roadie, he's more confident and his self-esteem is a lot better than it used to be.
Why do you think your character would work in this setting? He's been here before, he knows quite a few people. He's friendly, outgoing, stubbornly (or possibly stupidly) loyal to everyone he gets to know and he likes helping where he can.
What will your character do for work?NexGen 2.0 can be his again, right?
Inventory: A photo album of his time on tour. A necklace with a steel replica of his Heaven's Hellfire sword that he got when he was knighted, a bag of some fairly awesome rockstar hipster attire, a laptop with his video games on it and a box of all of his game consoles.
Samples: And now for the hard part! If you need a prompt for your samples, refer back to the Applications Page.
Third-Person Sample: We're gonna call this pixel puppy.First-Person Sample: [
It's video. Which should surprise no one. At first, nothing can even be seen. There's faint flashes of blue, white, sparks. A waver in the air as whatever is holding the TC moves and then, very slowly, the grinning face of Eugene fades into view as he lets go of his invisibility. ]
So uh...two questions:
How awesome was that concert?
[
That he helped with. Seriously, if none of his friends recognized his abilities, he's going to be so hurt. ]
Second question that only two of you will get: Where's the blacksmith?
[
Oh, God. He went with a Markiplier reference. YOU FUCKING NERD!]
